About Me

Hello there! My name is Vanessa Seifert and I am proud momma of two very energetic toddlers. I am happily married to my high school sweetheart, who is now a pastor, and together we are doing our best to "train up [our children] in the way [they] should go."

From an early age I have always been one of those people who loves science and enjoys solving math problems for fun. When I was about 9, my dad gave me a microscope and I think that was the most exciting gift I could have ever received. I remember spending many afternoons examining the pre-made slides that came in the box as well as making some of my own. I even convinced one of my neighborhood friends to donate a blood sample to my "research." A biohazard, I know, but I was 9 and had much to learn. I guess it is no coincidence that my first bachelor's degree was in Biology with minors in biochemistry and math.

Although, I never really planned on being a teacher, I did end up teaching high school Biology and Chemistry, and 7th and 8th grade Math and Science for one year after I graduated from college. That was a very exciting year for me.  Later on, I also worked as a long-term substitute for a 7th and 8th grade science class at a different school. Most of my students are now done or almost done with college. How time flies!

Despite all the excitement from teaching, my real passion was the medical field. So, after a couple of years, I went back to school and finished my bachelors in nursing and became a Registered Nurse. In nursing, I found my niche. It was here that I truly realized that I not only liked all the science stuff, I enjoyed caring for people even more.

Soon after I became a nurse, I also became a mom to a very active baby boy (Z1) and, seventeen months later, to a fierce baby girl (Z2). With the birth of my firstborn, I decided to be a stay-at-home mom. I confess that my journey through motherhood has not always been a bed of roses and that a lot of days I still feel inadequate for the role. However, I am comforted by the knowledge that I am giving it my best.

I love the outdoors. Traveling, hiking, and camping with my family are definitely at the top of my list of favorite activities. I also really enjoy reading and, as I see it, the only down side to it is that books end. I also like crocheting and knitting for my family and friends.

Most of all, I love God with all my heart and I hope that my children will too.
